Weekend Recap #7

"Blue Fire." A photo from Sandy Beach.
It was a nice three-day weekend, I spent it by going to the beach every day (No surprise) from Saturday to Monday. It was a pretty great time being able to catch some ocean time before I head out to Big Island for two weeks. Saturday consisted of taking on Sandy Beach in the early morning and out to Ehukai Beach park on the North Shore for some afternoon surf. Sunday was another double header of going to the beach; Back to Ehukai Beach park at Gas chambers for some bodyboarding and Waimea Bay with my brother. Finally for Memorial Day, back to North Shore to get the last of the swell and enjoy the partial sunset. Overall, I think I needed this week, cant always go a day without being the water. Here's some of my photos to cover this past weekend.

North Shore: Ehukai Beach Park.

Some manageable swells came in late this evening.

Sunset on this beautiful Saturday.

I always love North Shore sunsets, even if I see them on a weekly basis.

Sunday was another beach day with my brother and I wanted to stop here at Gas Chambers, to catch up with some surf. Id say this was probably a 3-4ft wave but man was I tired after getting pummeled by some freak 5ft sets that broke right infront of me.

North Shore: Waimea Bay.

Here's a photo of my brother dropping in on a set. He has the form and if it was breaking better with decent size, hed probably charge haha.

Tourist getting hit in the head by these manini(small) shorebreak waves.

I think this photo captures how Sunday went down at the Bay.

I managed to get a few barrel shots despite the very bad shore conditions.

A bit of traffic from an accident prompted me to stop on the side of the road and try to get a quick photo of the the sunset before we ended our Saturday.
North Shore: Shark's Cove.

On Memorial Day, I was debating wether to go check out the lantern ceremony or surf. I ended up surfing due to helping out with yard work and the time was pretty late to head out to town. So I went back to Gas Chambers to get as much waves as I could and enjoy the last beach day before I head back to another biusy work week. Shark's Cove was my best bet to get some good sunset photos and view was spectacular. Off in the distance, the rain was pouring down on Mokule'ia while the sun setted in the back, creating this amazing effect as if the rain was on fire. The spirit of Memorial Day was in full effect and thats why the sunset was breathtaking.
